- 空中客车A380客机全机身长度双层客舱与四台发动机成为最易辨认的独特外形。空中客车A380在单机旅客运力上有无可匹敌的优势。在典型三舱等（头等舱－商务舱－经济舱）布局下可承载555名乘客。空中客车A380飞机被空中客车公司视为其21世纪的“旗舰”产品，有「空中巨无霸」之称。A380在投入服务后，打破波音747在远程超大型宽体客机领域统领35年的纪录，结束了波音747在市场上30年的垄断地位，成为载客量最大的民用客机（不过载重量最大的民用飞机仍是安东诺夫的An-225梦想式运输机）。 空中客车A380采用了更多的复合材料，改进了气动性能，使用新一代的发动机、先进的机翼、起落架。减轻了飞机的重量，减少了油耗和排放，座公里油耗及二氧化碳排放更低。降低了营运成本，A380飞机机舱内的环境更接近自然。客机起飞时的噪声可达当前噪声控制标准(ICAO)规定的标准要低得多。A380是首架每乘客(座)/百公里油耗不到3公升的远程飞机（这一比例相当于一辆经济型家用汽车的油耗）。
